Unit (kWh)

One unit of electricity equals one kilowatt-hour (kWh) — the energy consumed by a 1,000-watt appliance running for one hour. Indian electricity bills are calculated in units, making it the common currency between your bill and your solar system.

Each kWp of rooftop solar produces roughly 4 units per day (about 120 per month) across most of India. Comparing your monthly bill units against expected generation is the fastest way to size a system honestly.
