Solar System Price in India (2026): 1 kW to 10 kW, With Subsidy
What a rooftop solar system costs by size, how much the central PM Surya Ghar subsidy takes off, and what you pay after it. Every figure is an indicative range to check a quote against — worked out from the same rules as our subsidy calculator.
PM Surya Ghar subsidy window: 31 March 2027
The ₹78,000 central residential subsidy is sanctioned through the end of FY 2026-27 (31 March 2027). Apply and get commissioned well before this date. No extension has been officially notified; MNRE has indicated the one-crore-household target may fall short by March 2027, which makes an extension plausible but not assured — plan around the published date.
As of October 2026 — confirm the current position on pmsuryaghar.gov.in.

Delhi and Uttar Pradesh add a state subsidy we have verified, and Bihar’s newly launched one is included at moderate confidence. For Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu we could not verify a general state cash subsidy, so those pages price the central subsidy alone and show what is reported or announced as a separate scenario.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the price per kW fall as the system gets bigger?
Fixed costs — the inverter, net meter, approvals, structure design and labour mobilisation — are spread over more kW. That is why the indicative band per kW is higher for 1–3 kW systems than for larger ones.
Is the subsidy included in the quoted price?
No. You normally pay the installer the full installed cost; the central PM Surya Ghar subsidy is paid to your bank account after the system is commissioned and verified. Plan your cash flow for the full cost.
Which system size gets the most subsidy?
The central subsidy reaches its maximum at 3 kW and does not rise above it, so 3 kW earns the highest subsidy per kW. Larger systems still qualify but receive the same maximum amount.
Are these prices exact?
No. They are indicative bands from our India Solar Databook, built from market observation of Indian quotations, not a survey. Brand, structure, roof and location move the price, so compare at least three written quotes.
Cost bands: HUM India Solar Databook, updated July 2026 — indicative market observation, not a survey. Subsidy facts as of October 2026. HUM is vendor-neutral and does not sell solar systems; nothing here is a quote.
