2 kW Solar System Price in Gujarat (2026), With Subsidy

A 2 kW rooftop solar system in Gujarat costs roughly ₹1.1–1.5 lakh before subsidy. With the central PM Surya Ghar subsidy (₹60,000) the cost after subsidy is roughly ₹50,000–90,000. We could not verify a generally availableGujarat state cash top-up, so none is included (see the note below). Indicative ranges to check a quote against, not a quote.

No verified state cash subsidy for Gujarat homes — sources conflict

We could not find a current state cash top-up for Gujarat residential rooftop solar on any official page we could read. The original SURYA Gujarat scheme paid a 40% state subsidy on systems up to 3 kW; at least one installer FAQ says that was discontinued and Gujarat now adds nothing on top of PM Surya Ghar. Other sites still quote ₹10,000 per kW (up to ₹20,000) via GEDA, but they cite no source and may be repeating older figures. The one state benefit we found reported (in a September 2025 article) is a ₹2,950 discount on meter, meter testing, meter box and connectivity charges for new rooftop systems up to 6 kW — a charge waiver, not cash. We treat Gujarat as central-subsidy-only and do not add any state amount to our totals. If a state subsidy is available, your DISCOM or the SURYA Gujarat portal will say so — please check before budgeting.

PM Surya Ghar subsidy window: 31 March 2027

The ₹78,000 central residential subsidy is sanctioned through the end of FY 2026-27 (31 March 2027). Apply and get commissioned well before this date. No extension has been officially notified; MNRE has indicated the one-crore-household target may fall short by March 2027, which makes an extension plausible but not assured — plan around the published date.

How the Subsidy Works for 2 kW in Gujarat

  • Central: ₹60,000 under PM Surya Ghar — the same everywhere in India.
  • Gujarat: Gujarat has no generally available state cash top-up that we could verify, so the central subsidy is the only amount used in the headline figures.
  • Compared with the India guide: the subsidy and cost after subsidy are the same as the 2 kW India price guide. What differs in Gujarat is how much the system generates, and so the payback below.
  • Meter charges: a September 2025 report says Gujarat discounts meter, meter testing, meter box and connectivity charges by ₹2,950 for new rooftop systems up to 6 kW. It is a charge waiver, not a subsidy, and is not included in the figures here — confirm with your DISCOM.

What You Pay and How Fast It Pays Back

A 2 kW system in Gujarat (about 5.6 peak sun hours) generates around 3,189 units a year. Payback below is the cost after the central and state subsidy divided by the yearly bill saving, from the low to the high end of the cost band.

Your rateYearly savingPayback
₹6 per unit₹19,1322.6 – 4.7 years
₹8 per unit₹25,5092 – 3.5 years
₹10 per unit₹31,8861.6 – 2.8 years

Net metering in Gujarat: GERC 2026 draft would widen net metering and net billing to 1 MW and add virtual net metering (low confidence, checked October 2026). Surplus is generally bought below the retail tariff, so these paybacks assume you use most of what you generate. See the Gujarat subsidy page for the details.

How to Claim in Gujarat

  1. Register on the national portal (pmsuryaghar.gov.in) with your DISCOM — UGVCL, MGVCL, PGVCL, DGVCL or Torrent Power — and your consumer number. Gujarat also runs its own SURYA Gujarat portal for rooftop applications; confirm which route your DISCOM expects.
  2. Choose an installer empanelled with your DISCOM, and ask for the DCR certificate for the exact module model, because the central subsidy needs domestically manufactured modules.
  3. Ask your DISCOM whether the reported ₹2,950 discount on meter and connectivity charges (reported for new rooftop systems up to 6 kW) applies to your connection.
  4. After commissioning and inspection the central subsidy is paid to your bank account by direct benefit transfer.

Process as reported and checked October 2026; portals and rules change, so confirm each step with the official portal. State nodal agency: GEDA / SURYA Gujarat Portal.

What Your Quote Should Include

  • Module make, model and wattage — and written confirmation of ALMM listing and DCR status for that exact model, because the subsidy needs domestically manufactured modules.
  • Inverter make, rating and warranty term, and whether arc-fault (AFCI) protection is included and switched on.
  • Mounting structure: steel grade, thickness, galvanising, and the wind speed it is designed for.
  • DC and AC cable sizes, earthing and lightning protection, and surge protection — the items that get cut when a quote is cheap.
  • Net meter, DISCOM approval and inspection charges, and whether the installer handles the subsidy paperwork.
  • Who services the system, for how long, and what the warranty covers in writing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of a 2 kW solar system in Gujarat with subsidy?

Using our indicative cost band, a 2 kW residential system costs roughly ₹1.1–1.5 lakh before subsidy. With the ₹60,000 central subsidy, the cost after subsidy is roughly ₹50,000–90,000; we have not added any Gujarat state amount because we could not verify one. Quotes vary with brand, structure and roof, so compare at least three written quotes.

How much subsidy does a 2 kW system get in Gujarat?

₹60,000 from the central scheme. Gujarat has no generally available state cash top-up that we could verify, so the central subsidy is the only amount used in the headline figures. As of October 2026, the central scheme runs to 31 March 2027.

Does Gujarat give a state subsidy on top of PM Surya Ghar?

We could not verify one. The original SURYA Gujarat scheme paid a 40% state subsidy and appears to have been discontinued, though some websites still quote ₹10,000 per kW. The one state benefit we found reported is a ₹2,950 discount on meter and connectivity charges for new rooftop systems up to 6 kW, which is a charge waiver, not cash. Check with your DISCOM or the SURYA Gujarat portal, and treat the central subsidy as the amount you can plan on.

How many units will a 2 kW system generate in Gujarat?

About 3,189 units a year (roughly 266 a month), using 5.6 peak sun hours for Gujarat and a 78% performance ratio. Shading, orientation and cleaning change the real figure.

Which DISCOMs handle rooftop solar in Gujarat?

UGVCL, MGVCL, PGVCL, DGVCL, Torrent Power. Applications go through the national PM Surya Ghar portal, which routes them to your DISCOM for feasibility approval and net metering.
