2 kW Solar System Price in Rajasthan (2026), With Subsidy
A 2 kW rooftop solar system in Rajasthan costs roughly ₹1.1–1.5 lakh before subsidy. With the central PM Surya Ghar subsidy (₹60,000) the cost after subsidy is roughly ₹50,000–90,000. We could not verify a generally availableRajasthan state cash top-up, so none is included (see the note below). Indicative ranges to check a quote against, not a quote.

Reported: flat ₹17,000 state subsidy, only for free-units scheme beneficiaries
Trade-press reports from December 2025 say Rajasthan will give an additional ₹17,000 — a flat amount, not per kW — to consumers covered by the state’s free-electricity scheme who install rooftop solar, over and above the central ₹78,000 (up to ₹95,000 combined), with the aim that a roughly 1.1 kW system generating about 150 units a month can be installed at effectively zero cost. JVVNL has reportedly started paying it. A solar-sector association adds that it is limited to beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Nishulk Bijli Yojana (the free-units scheme), and that other consumers instead get an induction cooktop and a small per-unit export incentive. We could not confirm the rules on Rajasthan’s own pages, so this is not added to any total: a typical household that is not a free-units beneficiary should plan on the central subsidy alone. Figures of ₹10,000 per kW (up to ₹30,000) plus SGST relief circulate for Rajasthan, but we could not find a source for them, so we do not use them.

PM Surya Ghar subsidy window: 31 March 2027
The ₹78,000 central residential subsidy is sanctioned through the end of FY 2026-27 (31 March 2027). Apply and get commissioned well before this date. No extension has been officially notified; MNRE has indicated the one-crore-household target may fall short by March 2027, which makes an extension plausible but not assured — plan around the published date.

How the Subsidy Works for 2 kW in Rajasthan
- Central: ₹60,000 under PM Surya Ghar — the same everywhere in India.
- Rajasthan: Rajasthan has no generally available state cash top-up that we could verify, so the central subsidy is the only amount used in the headline figures.
- Compared with the India guide: the subsidy and cost after subsidy are the same as the 2 kW India price guide. What differs in Rajasthan is how much the system generates, and so the payback below.
What You Pay and How Fast It Pays Back
A 2 kW system in Rajasthan (about 5.8 peak sun hours) generates around 3,303 units a year. Payback below is the cost after the central and state subsidy divided by the yearly bill saving, from the low to the high end of the cost band.
| Your rate | Yearly saving | Payback |
|---|---|---|
| ₹6 per unit | ₹19,815 | 2.5 – 4.5 years |
| ₹8 per unit | ₹26,420 | 1.9 – 3.4 years |
| ₹10 per unit | ₹33,025 | 1.5 – 2.7 years |
How to Claim in Rajasthan
- Register on the national portal (pmsuryaghar.gov.in) with your DISCOM — JVVNL, AVVNL or JdVVNL — and your consumer number.
- Choose an installer empanelled with your DISCOM, and ask for the DCR certificate for the exact module model.
- If you are a beneficiary of the state’s free-units scheme, ask your DISCOM about the reported flat ₹17,000 state subsidy before you order, and what conditions apply. Other consumers should plan on the central subsidy alone.
- After commissioning and inspection the central subsidy is paid to your bank account by direct benefit transfer.
Process as reported and checked October 2026; portals and rules change, so confirm each step with the official portal. State nodal agency: RRECL (Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation).
What Your Quote Should Include
- Module make, model and wattage — and written confirmation of ALMM listing and DCR status for that exact model, because the subsidy needs domestically manufactured modules.
- Inverter make, rating and warranty term, and whether arc-fault (AFCI) protection is included and switched on.
- Mounting structure: steel grade, thickness, galvanising, and the wind speed it is designed for.
- DC and AC cable sizes, earthing and lightning protection, and surge protection — the items that get cut when a quote is cheap.
- Net meter, DISCOM approval and inspection charges, and whether the installer handles the subsidy paperwork.
- Who services the system, for how long, and what the warranty covers in writing.

What is the price of a 2 kW solar system in Rajasthan with subsidy?
Using our indicative cost band, a 2 kW residential system costs roughly ₹1.1–1.5 lakh before subsidy. With the ₹60,000 central subsidy, the cost after subsidy is roughly ₹50,000–90,000; we have not added any Rajasthan state amount because we could not verify one. Quotes vary with brand, structure and roof, so compare at least three written quotes.
How much subsidy does a 2 kW system get in Rajasthan?
₹60,000 from the central scheme. Rajasthan has no generally available state cash top-up that we could verify, so the central subsidy is the only amount used in the headline figures. As of October 2026, the central scheme runs to 31 March 2027.
Do I get the extra ₹17,000 state subsidy in Rajasthan?
Reports say it is a flat ₹17,000 for consumers covered by the state’s free-electricity scheme, on top of the central subsidy — not for every household, and not per kW. We could not confirm the rules on Rajasthan’s own pages, so ask your DISCOM before you rely on it. If you are not a free-units beneficiary, plan on the central subsidy alone.
How many units will a 2 kW system generate in Rajasthan?
About 3,303 units a year (roughly 275 a month), using 5.8 peak sun hours for Rajasthan and a 78% performance ratio. Shading, orientation and cleaning change the real figure.
Which DISCOMs handle rooftop solar in Rajasthan?
JVVNL, AVVNL, JdVVNL. Applications go through the national PM Surya Ghar portal, which routes them to your DISCOM for feasibility approval and net metering.
