2 kW Solar System Price in Uttar Pradesh (2026), With Subsidy

A 2 kW rooftop solar system in Uttar Pradesh costs roughly ₹1.1–1.5 lakh before subsidy. With the central PM Surya Ghar subsidy (₹60,000) and Uttar Pradesh’s state top-up (₹30,000) — ₹90,000 in total — the cost after subsidy is roughly ₹20,000–60,000. Possible limit on how many consumers get the state subsidy

Several secondary sources report that the ₹15,000/kW state subsidy applies to the first 1 lakh consumers and is paid on a reimbursement basis after commissioning. UPNEDA’s own pages did not show this when we checked, so we could not confirm either point. If the limit exists, early applicants are more likely to receive it — confirm the current position on the UPNEDA portal before you budget around the state amount.

PM Surya Ghar subsidy window: 31 March 2027

The ₹78,000 central residential subsidy is sanctioned through the end of FY 2026-27 (31 March 2027). Apply and get commissioned well before this date. No extension has been officially notified; MNRE has indicated the one-crore-household target may fall short by March 2027, which makes an extension plausible but not assured — plan around the published date.

As of October 2026 — confirm the current position on pmsuryaghar.gov.in.

How the Subsidy Works for 2 kW in Uttar Pradesh

  • Central: ₹60,000 under PM Surya Ghar — the same everywhere in India.
  • Uttar Pradesh: The Uttar Pradesh top-up reaches its ₹30,000 cap at 2 kW, so a 2 kW system gets the full state amount.
  • Versus a central-only state: a household in Uttar Pradesh receives ₹30,000 more for this size, so the cost after subsidy is lower by that amount (about ₹50,000–90,000 elsewhere, see the 2 kW India price guide).

What You Pay and How Fast It Pays Back

A 2 kW system in Uttar Pradesh (about 5 peak sun hours) generates around 2,847 units a year. Payback below is the cost after the central and state subsidy divided by the yearly bill saving, from the low to the high end of the cost band.

Your rateYearly savingPayback
₹6 per unit₹17,0821.2 – 3.5 years
₹8 per unit₹22,7760.9 – 2.6 years
₹10 per unit₹28,4700.7 – 2.1 years

Net metering in Uttar Pradesh: Net metering up to 100% of sanctioned load; year-end surplus paid at a low regulated rate (moderate confidence, checked October 2026). Surplus is generally bought below the retail tariff, so these paybacks assume you use most of what you generate. See the Uttar Pradesh subsidy page for the details.

How to Claim in Uttar Pradesh

  1. Register on the national portal (pmsuryaghar.gov.in) with your DISCOM and consumer number. UP’s DISCOMs include PuVVNL, MVVNL, DVVNL, PVVNL and KESCO.
  2. Choose an empanelled installer. The central subsidy requires domestically manufactured (DCR) modules, so ask for the DCR certificate for the exact model.
  3. Apply for the state subsidy through UPNEDA’s rooftop solar portal. Secondary sources report it is paid on a reimbursement basis after commissioning; confirm this with UPNEDA.
  4. After commissioning and inspection the central subsidy is paid by direct benefit transfer, separately from the state amount.

Process as reported and checked October 2026; portals and rules change, so confirm each step with the official portal. State nodal agency: UPNEDA (UP New & Renewable Energy Development Agency).

What Your Quote Should Include

  • Module make, model and wattage — and written confirmation of ALMM listing and DCR status for that exact model, because the subsidy needs domestically manufactured modules.
  • Inverter make, rating and warranty term, and whether arc-fault (AFCI) protection is included and switched on.
  • Mounting structure: steel grade, thickness, galvanising, and the wind speed it is designed for.
  • DC and AC cable sizes, earthing and lightning protection, and surge protection — the items that get cut when a quote is cheap.
  • Net meter, DISCOM approval and inspection charges, and whether the installer handles the subsidy paperwork.
  • Who services the system, for how long, and what the warranty covers in writing.
