Mono PERC Bifacial vs Standard Panels: What the 11% Gain Really Means

Bifacial modules harvest reflected light from their rear face. Here is when that translates into real generation — and when it does not.

Mono PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell) technology pushes single-junction silicon efficiency beyond 21%. The bifacial variant adds a transparent rear sheet, letting the cell capture albedo — light reflected off the roof surface beneath the panel.

On elevated RCC-roof structures with light-coloured surfaces, field measurements consistently show 8–11% additional yield from the rear face. On tin sheds with flush mounting, the gain shrinks to 2–3% — which is why honest system design matters more than datasheet numbers.

A credible proposal should include a simulation of front and rear-side yield for the specific roof, so the projected payback period reflects real-world conditions rather than laboratory ratings.
