Earthing (Grounding)
Earthing connects the solar structure, panel frames, and electrical system to the ground through low-resistance earth pits, so fault currents and surges flow safely into the earth instead of through people or equipment.
Indian practice (IS 3043) typically uses separate pits for DC, AC, and lightning protection, with earth resistance verified below ~5 ohms. Chemical earthing electrodes are now standard for their stable, low-maintenance resistance.
