Thermography (IR Inspection)

Thermography uses infrared cameras — increasingly drone-mounted — to photograph the heat signature of an operating array, revealing hotspots, failed diodes, and dead strings invisible to the eye.

An annual IR scan is standard in commercial O&M and a strong pre-handover acceptance test. Findings are graded by temperature delta; anything above ~20 °C over neighbours warrants immediate action.
