TOPCon

TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) is the successor to PERC cell technology, adding an ultra-thin oxide layer that lifts panel efficiency to roughly 22–23%. It also degrades slower and performs better in heat — relevant for Indian conditions.

TOPCon modules typically carry 30-year performance warranties with ~0.40%/year degradation versus PERC’s ~0.55%. As Indian manufacturers commission TOPCon lines, the price premium over PERC has narrowed to a few paise per watt.
