MODULES & CELL TECHNOLOGY

DCR (Domestic Content Requirement)

DCR modules are solar panels whose cells and modules are both manufactured in India. Central subsidy schemes, including PM Surya Ghar, require DCR modules — using imported-cell panels disqualifies the subsidy.

DCR panels carry a price premium of a few rupees per watt over non-DCR equivalents because Indian cell capacity is still scaling. For unsubsidised commercial projects, non-DCR (imported-cell) modules are legal and common.
