Solar Cell

A solar cell is the smallest power-generating unit of a solar panel — a thin wafer of treated silicon that produces roughly 0.6–0.7 volts under sunlight. A typical modern panel connects 108–144 half-cut cells in series.

Cell technology (PERC, TOPCon, HJT) is the main driver of panel efficiency and price. Indian module manufacturers largely assemble panels from domestically or internationally sourced cells — which is exactly what the DCR (Domestic Content Requirement) rule regulates for subsidised projects.
