Huawei — LUNA2000-5-S0 modular LFP battery (5–15 kWh)
A modular 5 kWh LFP battery with 100% depth of discharge, IP66 and IEC 62619 — a 350–560 V Huawei-inverter battery, not a drop-in 48 V pack.
Reviewed 6 October 2026
Huawei’s LUNA2000-5-S0 is a modular home battery: a 5 kW power module plus one to three 5 kWh LFP battery modules (5, 10 or 15 kWh), scalable to 30 kWh with a second system in parallel. The datasheet states 100% depth of discharge (5, 10 or 15 kWh usable at 0.2C and 25 °C at beginning of life) — a materially higher usable fraction than the 80–95% typical of other batteries we reviewed.
Output depends on size: a single 5 kWh module delivers 2.5 kW (3.5 kW peak for 10 s), while two or three modules deliver 5 kW (7 kW peak). It runs at 350–560 V on a single-phase system (600–980 V on three-phase), is rated IP66 for outdoor installation and −20 °C to +55 °C, is naturally cooled and under 29 dB, and carries CE, RCM, CEC, VDE 2510-50, IEC 62619, IEC 60730 and UN 38.3 certificates.
It only works with specific Huawei inverters (the SUN2000-2 to 6KTL-L1 family and the three-phase M0/M1 families, with M0 needing engineer confirmation). It is not a 48 V battery and cannot be used with Deye, Solis or similar low-voltage hybrids. The datasheet does not give a cycle-life figure, round-trip efficiency or warranty term (it refers to a battery warranty letter), and it is the EU datasheet with no BIS or India approval shown.
For Installers & Engineers
Deeper technical detail beyond the homeowner-facing summary above.
Footnote 1: usable-energy figures are at 100% DoD, 0.2C charge/discharge, 25 °C, beginning of life; if no PV is installed or no sunlight has been detected for 24 hours, the minimum end-of-discharge state of charge is 15%. Expect less than the headline figure in a no-solar situation.
The system weights are 63.8 kg (one battery module with power module and floor stand), 113.8 kg (two) and 163.8 kg (three). A battery module alone is 50 kg (±3%) and the power module 12 kg; dimensions are 670 × 150 mm footprint, 600/960/1,320 mm high.
Installation is floor-stand as standard with an optional wall mount, and the datasheet notes outdoor suitability subject to the user manual. The temperature footnote refers to the battery warranty letter for conditions of application, so check it for the climate you install in.
Because each size has a different maximum output, a one-module system (2.5 kW) cannot cover a 5 kW backup load; size modules for power as well as energy.
Third-party listings quote cycle life and warranty figures; they are not on the datasheet we read, so we do not repeat them. Ask Huawei for the warranty letter.
The Scorecard
How we scoreUsable Capacity & Depth of Discharge
100% DoD with stated test conditions and a modular 5–30 kWh range; a single module is limited to 2.5 kW and the 15% floor without solar reduces usable energy.
Cycle Life & Warranty
Not assessed — the datasheet states no cycle-life figure or warranty term.
Safety & Chemistry
LFP chemistry, IEC 62619 and VDE 2510-50 certificates, IP66 and a stated protection design; no BIS or India approval shown.
Round-Trip Efficiency
Not assessed — no round-trip efficiency is stated.
Value for Money
Not assessed — we have not sourced a current India price.
Strengths
- 100% depth of discharge stated, with defined test conditions
- IEC 62619, VDE 2510-50 and UN 38.3 listed; LFP chemistry; four-layer protection claimed
- IP66, −20 °C to +55 °C, natural convection and under 29 dB
- Modular 5–15 kWh per system and up to two systems in parallel
Watch-outs
- High-voltage Huawei-only battery — not compatible with 48 V or other-brand inverters
- No cycle-life, round-trip efficiency or warranty term on the datasheet; no BIS or India approval shown (EU datasheet)
- A single 5 kWh module delivers only 2.5 kW; the minimum end of discharge is 15% without solar
- Floor-stand weight of 63.8–163.8 kg and a separately ordered power module
