Pylontech — US5000 4.8 kWh 48 V LFP battery (as published in ZCS datasheet)
The widely used 48 V rack battery: >6,000 cycles and a 10-year warranty on a distributor’s sheet — with IP20 housing and certifications that omit IEC 62619.
Reviewed 6 October 2026 · verdict on public record, hard specs awaiting a sourced feed
The Pylontech US5000 is a 48 V, 4.8 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate module that stacks in parallel (up to five on this datasheet) and works with many 48 V hybrid inverters, which is why it is a common recommendation. The datasheet we read is ZCS Azzurro’s (Zucchetti Centro Sistemi) table for its ZCS-labelled Pylontech US5000, Rev 4.0 dated 31 January 2018 — not an up-to-date Pylontech datasheet — so treat its figures as a baseline and ask for the current document.
It states 4.8 kWh nominal and 4.3 kWh useful at 90% depth of discharge, more than 6,000 operating cycles in standard conditions (25 °C, 40% humidity, 80% DoD), a 10-year warranty, communications over RS232, RS485 and CAN, and a maximum charge and discharge current of 80 A (limited in practice by the inverter). The housing is IP20, so it needs an indoor or sheltered installation, and it weighs 40 kg at 442 × 420 × 161 mm.
The certifications on this sheet are EN 61000-6-3, IEC 61000-6-2, CE and UN 38.3. Other retailer listings quote IEC 62619 and UL 1973 and a 100 A maximum current; neither appears on this document, so we do not count them. Verify the current certificates for the exact variant you are quoted, and confirm any India approval, which this sheet does not show.
For Installers & Engineers
Deeper technical detail beyond the homeowner-facing summary above.
Usable energy: the sheet states 4.3 kWh at 90% DoD (4.8 × 0.9 = 4.32), but the cycle-life statement is quoted at 80% DoD (3.84 kWh per cycle). Our arithmetic: 6,000 × 3.84 kWh is about 23 MWh of throughput over the life, which, divided into the price you pay, gives a rough cost per kWh stored.
Charging is allowed between 0 °C and 50 °C and discharge from −10 °C to 50 °C, with 0–95% non-condensing humidity and a 2,000 m altitude limit. An IP20 housing means dust and moisture ingress protection must come from the room or enclosure.
Up to five batteries in parallel on this datasheet gives 24 kWh nominal. The sheet notes real charge/discharge currents are limited by the operating conditions and the inverter, so check your inverter’s battery-current setting.
ZCS’s page footnotes define “standard operative conditions” (25 °C, 40% humidity, 80% DoD). Warranty terms and throughput limits are not on this sheet; ask for them.
The Scorecard
How we scoreUsable Capacity & Depth of Discharge
4.8 kWh nominal and 4.3 kWh at 90% DoD with up to five modules in parallel; a clear 48 V standard format.
Cycle Life & Warranty
>6,000 cycles at 80% DoD in stated conditions plus a 10-year warranty are strong, though from a 2018 distributor sheet.
Safety & Chemistry
LFP chemistry and a BMS, but the sheet lists only EMC, CE and UN 38.3, an IP20 housing and no IEC 62619 or India approval.
Round-Trip Efficiency
Not assessed — no round-trip efficiency is stated on this sheet.
Value for Money
Not assessed — we have not sourced a current India price.
