GrowattMIN 5000TL-X

Strong raw efficiency and a familiar India-installed brand — but confirm whether fire-risk arc-fault protection is standard or an add-on.

4.1of 5 · our score

The MIN 5000TL-X is a single-phase, transformerless string inverter rated for 5,000W AC output, sized against up to 7,000W of PV (a 1.4:1 DC/AC ratio). It carries a genuinely strong headline efficiency — 98.4% max, 97.5% European-weighted — competitive with, or ahead of, most string inverters we have reviewed on this site.

Growatt already has real, established installer familiarity in India — we reviewed their broader string inverter range separately and noted the same strength there. This specific model adds OLED+LED display, WiFi+APP monitoring, IP65 outdoor rating, and a 5-year standard warranty with a 10-year option.

One thing worth confirming before you buy: the datasheet explicitly lists AFCI (arc-fault fire-risk detection) as "Optional," not standard — a genuine, checkable difference from some competing inverters we have reviewed where it ships integrated.

For Installers & Engineers

Deeper technical detail beyond the homeowner-facing summary above.

DC/AC oversize ratio is 1.4:1 (7,000W recommended PV against 5,000W rated AC) — for comparison, the Deye hybrid inverter we reviewed separately supports 1.5:1. Useful for extracting more energy from a full day’s irradiance curve, but only worth using if your roof actually has the space and orientation to fill the extra DC headroom.

Two MPP trackers, but only 1 string per tracker — the opposite tradeoff from the Solis unit reviewed alongside it (1 tracker, 2 strings). This Growatt configuration suits two independently-oriented strings (e.g., east and west-facing sections) better than it suits combining two strings of the same orientation.

The datasheet carries a footnote on max input current per MPP tracker (13.5A): "Only the latest version... for details please contact Growatt" — a real signal that this specific spec may vary by production batch. Confirm the exact rating on your specific unit rather than assuming the datasheet figure automatically applies.

AFCI (arc-fault circuit interruption, a real fire-risk mitigation feature) is explicitly listed as "Optional" rather than integrated — ask directly whether your quoted unit includes it or whether it is a separate line item.

The Scorecard

How we score

Conversion Efficiency

4.5

98.4% max and 97.5% European-weighted efficiency are genuinely strong, at or ahead of most string inverters we have reviewed.

Reliability & Build

4.0

Solid protection feature set and a wide operating temperature range; consistent with our earlier, broader review of Growatt’s reliability positioning.

Monitoring & Software

4.0

Built-in OLED+LED display with WiFi+APP monitoring covers most residential needs without needing an add-on module.

Service Network & Support

4.0

Growatt already has real, wide installer familiarity in India, a genuine advantage over newer-to-market brands we have reviewed.

Value for Money

4.0

Competitive efficiency-for-price positioning consistent with Growatt’s broader value-oriented reputation, offset slightly by AFCI being an optional extra rather than included.

Strengths

  • Strong headline efficiency: 98.4% max, 97.5% European-weighted
  • Already-established India installer familiarity and service reach (consistent with our earlier review of Growatt’s broader inverter range)
  • IP65 outdoor rating and a wide −25°C to +60°C operating range
  • 10-year warranty available as an upgrade beyond the 5-year standard term

Watch-outs

  • AFCI fire-risk protection is listed as "Optional," not standard — confirm in writing whether your quoted unit includes it
  • Only 1 string per MPP tracker (of 2 trackers) — check this matches your roof’s string layout, especially if you have more than two distinct orientations
  • This datasheet shows international/export certifications (CE, AS4777, INMETRO, CQC) — India-specific BIS/CEA certification is not shown; confirm with your vendor
  • Max input current per MPPT carries a "latest version only" footnote — confirm the exact spec on the specific unit you are buying

Who It’s For

  • Straightforward 1–2 orientation residential roofs wanting a widely-installed, familiar India brand
  • Buyers prioritising raw conversion efficiency who are comfortable confirming AFCI inclusion separately

Our Verdict

Strong raw efficiency numbers and the advantage of an already-familiar, well-installed India brand. The two things to nail down before buying: whether AFCI fire-risk protection is included in your quote or billed separately, and confirming India-specific certification since this datasheet reflects the international/export specification set.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the MIN 5000TL-X include fire-risk (arc-fault) protection as standard?

No — the official datasheet lists AFCI as "Optional," not a standard-included feature. Confirm directly with your vendor whether your specific quoted unit includes it.

How many solar strings can I connect to this inverter?

It has 2 MPP trackers with 1 string each — suited to two independently-oriented roof sections (e.g., east and west facing). If your roof layout needs more strings or a different MPPT/string configuration, confirm this model fits before ordering.

Is the warranty 5 years or 10 years?

The datasheet lists 5 years as the standard term with 10 years available as an optional upgrade. Get the exact term — and whether the 10-year option is included or costs extra — in writing.
