Where Off-Grid Fits

Off-grid — no grid connection at all, batteries carrying the full load — is a niche in India: remote farms, telecom towers, island communities, and sites where extending the grid costs more than the solar plant. It is sized around load and autonomy days rather than around a bill, and battery cost dominates the economics.

For anyone with a working grid connection, off-grid is almost always the wrong answer: you pay for battery capacity to replace power you could import cheaply.
